Our teachers are passionate about dance and developing all students skills. All of our teachers are fully qualified and have completed a Working With Children Check.
Cherie started her journey of dance at the age of 3, where she began with June Gapps and there-after joined K & L Byrnes dance Academy. It was apparent that at a young age, dancing was going to be a very big part of her life.
Cherie put her dream of owning her own studio into reality in 1998, and was passionate about providing quality training to young ambitious dancers. Cherie studied all facets of dance and passed all her teaching qualification certificates gaining honours with distinction and has completed her teaching diploma’s with The Royal Academy of Dancing (R.A.D), and The Federal Association of teachers of Dancing ( F.A.T.D) as well as being a Registered Ready Set Ballet/Ready Set Dance teacher.
At an early age Cherie had regular employment performing at various shopping centres, theme parks and club shows, as well as modelling for Grace bros and DJ’s, she has successfully competed in interstate and international eisteddfods. Some of Cherie’s highlights within the entertainment industry has been dancing and studying with some of Australia’s renowed professionals such as Kelly Abbey, Jason Coleman, Matt Lee and Ramon Doringo. Cherie founded KC DANCE COMPANY 30 years ago, initially located in Moorebank, Sydney. She has trained many elite-level dancers who have gone on to gain acceptance into Brent Street, the Village Performing Arts (just to name a few) and work professionally as successful dancers and performers in the industry. After 24 years in Sydney, she brought KC DANCE CO to the South Coast, where she has maintained and introduced an incredibly high Sydney-standard of dance to South Nowra & St. George’s Basin.
She also involved herself with the Education Department Primary schools and choreographed many outstanding performances for Wakakirri and south western Sydney dance festivals. Cherie’s innovative choreography has gone on to win numerous awards at competitions, she has dedicated her life to teach dance, she inspires dancers of all ages and believes there is no better way to express yourself then through dance. Cherie’s unique and amazing talent is admired by all in the studio and she is very much loved and respected by all who have the pleasure to know her 💕
Savannah commenced her formal dance training at 10 and has since gone on to realize her passion for every aspect dance offers in choreography, performing, teaching and theory. Training in classical ballet, jazz, contemporary, modern & tap, Savannah undertook R.A.D examinations as well as experiencing various eisteddfods as a soloist. She was a member of the Illawarra & South East Regional Performing Company (ISER) & gained performance experience in State Dance Festival, featured dancer in Southern Stars, Schools Spectacular and lead role in Rock Eisteddfod.
In 2011 Savannah completed her HSC dance and achieved an unprecedented mark of 100%, topping the state of NSW against 1300 other students, as well as being nominated for HSC dance callback showcase for exemplary performance. Savannah is a qualified high school teacher, obtaining a double degree in a Bachelor of Secondary Education & Bachelor of Dance, History & Theatre Performance Studies at the University of New South Wales (2016) where she has gained knowledge in safe dance practice, classroom management, varying learning styles and injury prevention/anatomy. Savannah has learnt under teachers such as Sue Healey, John Mullins, Gilli O’Connell, Lisa Griffiths, Rach Kirsten and Erin Brannigan during her time at University as well as workshops with Sydney Dance Company, Brian Friedman, Tessendra Chavez, Steps NYC, The Edge LA and the Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre.
Savannah has choreographed Wakakirri for the past four years where they were awarded the ‘Choreography Award NSW’ and ‘Outstanding Dance Presentation’ as well as numerous troupes and soloists who have achieved remarkable successes at various eisteddfods. Savannah has worked on set of Channel 10 television series ‘Wonderland’, as well as dancing in Australasian airlines commercials, being selected to join the talent agency MCTV in Sydney. She has been given the experience to choreograph for the Illawarra and South East Regional Dance Festival, Southern Stars Performing Company, as well as the Illawarra South East Region Performing Ensemble. Savannah has tutored numerous HSC dance students, with a 100% success rate of major performance choreography being selected for HSC dance callback NSW. She has had six years R.A.D teaching experience, as well as being an all-rounder in teaching numerous dance styles, however specialises in her passion of modern/contemporary.
Savannah’s wacky sense of humour, lively approach to teaching and kind nature, infused with her extensive knowledge makes her a valuable and much-adored member of the KC family. Savannah has been a part of KC DANCE Company since 2016 and loves sharing her passion for dance in a caring, nurturing, positive environment, thriving off driven and hard-working students
Rachael’s love of dance began at the age of 3 and has never stopped, as she excels in teaching, choreography and performance. She began her studies with RAD Ballet in Sydney until the age of 7, until her family relocated to the South Coast where she joined the Nowra Dance Centre, studying Cecchetti Ballet Syllabus until her late teens. Under the guidance of Principle teacher Mrs Dorothy Curnow LISTD MA (Dance), MSc (Research), Rachael completed and passed with outstanding results, all of the Cecchetti exams up to Advanced level.
From the age of 13 onward Rachael received many amazing opportunities and awards for Ballet that she has cherished ever since. Participating and completing the Enrico Cecchetti Scholarship Foundation of NSW Silver Medal Test. Cecchetti Society of NSW Certificate of Merit for being chosen as a NSW Senior Scholar – selected students had the privilege of attending intense ballet classes with the renown David McAllister AM (Current artistic director and previous principal dancer with the Australian Ballet), Marilyn Jones OBE and other prestigious members of the Australia Ballet School.
Concluding her studies, Rachael completed an Executive Business Diploma, focusing on the development and motivation of young people, which has been a pivotal factor in her success as a dance teacher and mentor. Rachael is also an accredited Barre Attack teacher; a highly sought-out program focusing on bodily functions, correct training of muscle groups utilized in safe dance practice and the appropriate alignment, balance and control when executing movements.
Rachael attended Nowra High School and was actively involved in all things dance including the Rock Eisteddfod, Regional Dance Festival and the School Dance Troupe. For the past 7 years Rachael has been sharing her knowledge and love of dance with the local dance community and in School Dance Programs, specialising in Ballet and Hip Hop for all ages. Rachael won the reputable Stars of Shoalhaven Dance for Cancer two years in a row, against a tough and high-standard of competition. Rachael’s choreography has had significant successes across numerous competitions, both regionally and at a state-level, which is a true testament to her ongoing determination and dedication.
Rachael will continue her passion to share, teach and encourage in a nurturing environment the life-long benefits that dance offers to everyone, including to her own children. Her personable, warm nature and genuine sense of encouragement makes her an extremely valuable and well-liked teacher, whom we so grateful to have at KC.
Luke started his training with Joanne Grace School of Dance in Wollongong for 5 years in all styles of dance, as well as attending the selective Wollongong High School of the Performing Arts. He then went on to complete a two year course at the prestigious Tanya Pearson Classical Coaching Academy in Sydney, studying classical ballet and contemporary styles.
During his time in full time training, Luke was accepted into the finals of the highly-regarded and renown, Youth America Grand Prix in New York, which is known as the olympics of dance. Fortunately after an audition tour in Europe, Luke was accepted into 3 prominent schools and made the choice to train with the Palucca School for Dance in Dresden, Germany, as well as training full time at Palucca University in dance. After a successful year at the school, Luke decided to travel again accepting a contract onboard the Celebrity Equinox, Adventure of the seas and Explorer of the /Seas (Royal Caribbean) as a speciality dancer and aerialist performer. Luke had also Completed 3 contracts onboard Holland America Line as a speciality dancer, providing him with wide versatility and the experience to work with numerous choreographers.
In addition to this, Luke was selected amongst a field of huge talent to perform at Disneyworld Florida and is also a part of talentbook agency as an actor, model and entertainer. Luke is a highly-experienced, talented dancer and teacher, having also taught at the reputable Joanne Grace School of Dance. Luke is extremely excited to work with the students of KC DANCE CO and to bring his international training to the South Coast. His bubbly, vivacious personality, mixed with his passion and talent sees an amazing, highly sought after teacher, whom we can’t wait to welcome to the KC family.

Skyla has quite literally been involved with KC DANCE Company her entire life and has made significant contribution to its ongoing success. Skyla is a trained Ready Set Ballet/Ready Set Dance teacher and is an incredible role model to her Monday afternoon pre-schoolers. Skyla has completed all of her A.D.A jazz, tap and ballet exams from pre-primary to gold and in the coming months will undertake her all of her A.D.A teacher’s examinations; following in her mother’s phenomenal footsteps. She has danced on P&O cruise ships, as well as touring QLD as a troupe performer and is an extremely talented dancer in every single genre. Skyla has learnt under the likes of many incredible and renown teachers in Sydney, which as assisted in her great successes as both a soloist and troupe dancer. Skyla has won the Australian Theatrical Championship as a soloist as a junior and has been involved in many award-winning troupes. Being born into the studio, Skyla has been exposed to a magnificent array of training and experience to share with her students and offers a nurturing approach to teaching. Skyla’s genuine and warm nature makes her a much-loved teacher and dancer by all, she loves having the opportunity to teach Ready Set Ballet / Ready Set Dance and is a valued member of our family.
Zoe is a valued member of KC DANCE Company, she began her journey with us at the age of 2 in 2002 in Moorebank, before moving down to the South Coast with her family. Zoe is an extremely talented dancer and one of our junior student teachers. She has successfully completed all of her A.D.A jazz, ballet and tap exams from primary through to gold and will be undertaking her teachers examinations in the coming months. Zoe was a member of the Illawarra and South East Regional dance company as well as the NSW state dance ensemble. Zoe was a featured dancer in the Southern Stars Performing Company as well the inaugural Schools Spectacular. Zoe has danced with P&O Cruise, toured QLD and won many National Australian Theatrical Championships, as well as gracing the floor with Albatross Musical Theatre Company. Zoe has had the opporunity to choreograph for the Illawarra and South East Regional Performing Ensemble, as well as troupe groups and has proved she acquires and talent and maturity beyond her years. Zoe is constantly developing her training, taking workshops at Sydney Dance Company and is also a trained Ready Set Dance/Ready Set Ballet teacher. Zoe is a pivotal member of our troupes and has been for many years, contributing to the great achievements and successes KC has obtained. She is an amazingly all-rounder dancer and absolutely loves sharing her passion with her students. Her talent and commitment makes her a fantastic role model to all in the studio
Teresa is an upcoming, passionate, innovative commercial dancer, choreographer and teacher. She begun dancing at a very young age at KC Dance Company Moorebank under the guidance of Cherie Kowe and then continued her training at the prestigious GY Dance in Sydney with Glenda Yee.
She is represented by JEEP talent management and is a recent 2018 full-time graduate of Brent Street, receiving a Diploma in Performing Arts. She has performed behind major artist Starley at Mardi Gras 2018, debuted as one of the LED Dancers Australia and also featured in the 2018 tourism awards performing Greatest Showman classics. She has also danced with renown artists such as Samantha Jade, Dannii Minogue, Delta Goodrem as well as performing in TV shows such as The Voice, X Factor and Dance Boss. Teresa hopes to further her dance training and career by travelling to America each year and continues her training in Australia by learning off reputable choreographers such as, Mitchell Woodcock, Matt Lee, Amy Campbell, Stephen Tannos, Mathew Gode and many more incredibly talented Brent Street staff.

Isabella has been a valued member of KC Dance Co since it was established on the South Coast in 2012. With over 10 years experience as a dancer in a wide range of styles, Izzy’s passion is inherent in her continued involvement as both a student and teacher at KC. Throughout high school, Isabella was avidly involved in dance, participating in South Coast Regional and State Dance Festival, Southern Stars as a Southern Stars Performing Company Member and Schools Spectacular. Just last year, Isabella undertook Dance as a subject in her HSC attaining a band 6 and was a dance ensemble member in AMTC’s production of ‘The Little Mermaid’. Isabella’s love for dance is reflected in her commitment and love for the arts. Isabella is a registered Ready Set Dance/Ready Set Ballet teacher and she is thankful to have had the chance to choreograph for both primary and high school dance performances and hopes that the future holds more exciting opportunities in the industry. Isabella is a very-much loved member of our KC family, her vivacious spirit and choreographic talent and passion is reflected through all of her students. She values the trust she has been given to guide students and encourage them to be the best performer they can be. She adores all of her squishy Ready Set Dance babies and commends all her beautiful students on their consistent hard work.
Kathleen began her dance education at the age of 7, and since then her love and passion for the art has grown continuously. She has trained in a wide-range of genres including classical ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, and hip hop.
She attended Nowra High School and was involved in every extra-curriculum dance performance such as the NSW Regional Dance Festival and State Dance Festival, Rock Eisteddfod, as well as being a featured performer in Southern Stars and School Spectacular. Kathleen also gained acceptance into numerous dance companies such as the Illawarra & South East Region (ISER) Performing Company and Touring Ensemble, Southern Stars Junior and Senior Ballet Company and the School Spectacular Senior Ballet Ensemble. This gave Kathleen the opportunity to work with different choreographers such as Chantal Kerr from Bangarra Dance Theatre and Matt Geronimi from So You Think You Can Dance season three.
At the age of 17, Kathleen started assisting in a few classes at KC Dance Co, this is where she realised her enthusiasm for teaching dance. Since then Miss Kathleen has been a valuable, talented staff member of KC DANCE company, in which she has choreographed many award-winning routines and troupes. Her extensive classical ballet experience and knowledge of technique is instilled into the KC dancers to receive the best possible training. Kathleen is a register Ready Set Dance/Ready Set Ballet teacher and she has undeniably been of great contribution to KC DANCE Company’s success and growth. She is committed to helping students grow as dancers and hopes to pass on as much knowledge, creativity and exhilaration to the next generation.
